Should you tip the bartender when you are just buying a gift certificate at a restaurant?

What the hell? In my books it is customary to tip for any service in the hospitality business. If it takes the bartender a minute to fill out the gift certificate than that is a minute he could devote to a TIPPING customer. Yes the business makes out on the gift certificate, but that bartender won’t necessarily ever get tipped from it. I wouldn’t expect a full percentage but give him or her a buck for their time.
