    Whether you tip or not is up to you. I have worked in bars and restaurants for 15 yrs when it comes to tips any are appreciated.

    I was a bartender at a ritzy Hotel for years and NO you do not tip the bartender when you buy a gift certificate! They r not really performing a service to you at that time and place. They should not even be expecting one!!!!

    Hell no, tips are for the pizza man and waiters; everybody wants a tip these days heres a tip dont walk in dark alley’s.

    I don’t believe so. A tip is to represent good service–if they are just getting you a gift certificate, they’re not really “serving you”, they’re just doing their job.
